*The Mistaken*

My love is like the flaw of man,
The ultimate humiliation, the utter shame;
My love is like the Devil's voice,
That gestures, beckons, and calls your name;

My love is like the silver bow,
That whose arrow released hits you on the brow;
My love is all that is dark and menacing,
The final graffiti, the ultimate defacing;

My love solemnly breathes destruction,
It idles and lacks consistency;
My love for one thing sees a constant reduction,
It knows no rules, no proficiency;

Yet this is how mistaken fools,
Who wade in wait in jealous pools,
See my undying affections for you,
For what is thought false, is but true.

I savour your flaws like I savour the sun,
I love you as though the end has just begun,
I cherish you like a gentle embrace,
I understand and I know your face;

My love is the sun that never sets,
My heart is rid of all regrets;
I am misunderstood but you see me,
I am cold to the touch, but you feel me;
I am silent to hear but you heard my cries,
I am confident and strong, but you penetrated my disguise,
I am steadfast but you saw the dilemmas I face,
I am capable but you know my real place;
Subtle, still, and pristine is our truth,
Strong, powerful, is our affection;
Such that I expose myself, unafraid,
To venture into chaos without prior protection.
